Important Notice:

Turn off power before installing or removing connector. All electrical work should be done according to appropriate electrical codes. Before utilizing these products, the user should determine the suitability of the product for its intended use. Paige Electric Co., LP expressly disclaims the implied warranties and conditions of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. In no case shall Paige Electric Co., LP be liable under any legal theory, including but not limited to contract or strict liability, for any direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages resulting from product use.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Strip 3/8" to 1/2" (9.5 to 12.7 mm) of the wires' insulation.
  2. Insert wires securely into the connector bar and tighten the hex head screws by using the included Allen wrench as shown in Figure 1. Tape wires together with electrical tape about 5" (12.7 mm) from the end of the connector bar as shown in Figure 2. Tighten screws again to a minimum torque of 45 inch-pounds, to make sure the wires are secure. The wire conductors should not stick out more than 1/4" (6.4 mm) from the end of the bus bar, as shown in Figure 1. Trim the wire conductors if necessary. Note that if the wire conductors stick out more than 1/4" (6.4 mm), the connector bar will not lock in place and a new kit will have to be used.
  3. Insert the connected wires and connector bar into the gel-filled enclosure so it bottoms out and until it slides past the locking ramps. Close the lid and snap it shut as shown in Figure 3.
  4. Thread the included cable tie through the slotted holes and secure the wires to the connector body as shown in Figures 3 and 4. Pull the cable tie tightly around the wires. The excess of the cable tie may be trimmed if desired.

Undoing the Splice:

The connection can be taken apart if necessary. For safety reasons, child-resistant locking tabs (2 on each side, as shown in Figure 5) must be depressed while pulling gently on the wires. Use a small screw driver or pointed tool to depress the tabs, then pull on the wires. Re-make the slice using a new DB14-4 Connector Kit. DO NOT RE-USE THE CONNECTOR AFTER TAKING IT APART.
