1.0 SCOPE:
  A connector assembly for splicing wires in underground installations, including irrigation system wires and cables, low voltage lighting cables, etc. The bus bar connector assembly has 3 terminals, each capable of accommodating 14 to 4 AWG copper wire, solid or stranded.
  • A low cost alternative to resin packs used in conjunction with twist-on wire connectors, split bolts, butt connectors, etc.
  • No waiting for resins to dry before the splice can be placed inside a valve/junction box.
  • The simplicity of the design allows for drastic reductions of installation time and costs. Just tighten the set screws on the bus bar connector and slide it into the gel-filled enclosure.
  • No tools required, other than wire strippers. An Allen wrench is provided with each 3-pack to allow tightening of the set screws on the bus bar connector.
  • Fool-proof design minimizes the possibility of human error.
  • Designed to meet Articles 300.5 (Underground Installations) and 110.14 (Electrical Connections) of the 2005 National Electrical Code, under UL 486D-Direct Burial.
  • The plastic enclosure is resistant to the ultraviolet rays of the sun.
  • A cable tie is provided with each connector kit to provide strain relief, so the connection doesn't come apart when the wires are pulled-upon.
  • Child resistant re-entry tabs allow the taking apart of the splice without loss of wire. The connector should not be re-used after taking the splice apart.

    2 wide x 1-3/4 deep x 3-1/8 high (5.1 x 4.4 x 7.9 mm)
  • Application temperature is 32 to 120F (0 to 49C)
  • Storage temperature:
    120F (49C) maximum.

  • Each hole of the bus bar connector will allow wire sizes ranging from 14 to 4 AWG copper wire, solid or stranded.

  The power wires of the irrigation system, 120 or 240 volts, shall be spliced using a Paige Electric DB14-4 Direct Burial Connector. All splices shall be housed in a valve/junction box, for easy access, and its location shall be marked on the as-built drawings.
